Your accommodation in Uganda!
When you volunteer at Team College you have a number of accommodation options from staying in a traditional Africa homestay close to the school, at nearby Ruhanga Resource Centre or hotel accommodation in neighbouring Ntungamo.
The headmaster of Team College and his wife Gertrude live next to the school and also open their house as a homestay to visiting volunteers and others passing by.
As with most homestay accommodation in Africa, the house is light, comfortable and airy with outside cooking and washing facilities where you can try your hand at picking mangoes, mingling posho, milking cows, peeling matoke, chopping firewood and collecting water in a jerry can the traditional African way. All meals are provided.
The homestay can only cater for two volunteers at any one time sharing single beds in a double bedroom, so, if the homestay is booked when you arrived, there is alternative accommodation at nearby Ruhanga Resource Centre which is a few minutes walk away in the same village. This accommodation is more expensive but has hot and cold showers in each room, standard western style toilets and a leisure area with bar and pool table.
We recommend you stay at the homestay when you first arrive for a week or so, and then decide where you would like to stay for the remainder of your volunteering episode. Whatever you choose you will simply fall in love with the village where you will be staying!
